wer krank ist, besorgt sich was: menschliche hilfe, ins- titutionelle unterstützung oder substanzen. pharmazie befasst sich mit drogen, heilenden und giftigen. wer müde ist von zu viel wirklichkeit, geht vielleicht trippen auf pil- zen, nimmt den zaubertrank der ayahuasca, oder geht ins theater. pharmakon ist der altgriechische name all dessen, heilmittel, gift, zaubermittel. pharmakos ist das opfer, ein sündenbock. gerade noch zur selben zeit, in der das theater entstand, wurden im süden europas menschen ritualisiert geopfert, präventiv oder wenn etwas schief ging. damit blieb die gesellschaft- liche ordnung intakt. heute befinden wir uns am ende des zeitalters des menschen: kybernetik und robotik, postko- lonialismus, queer theory, new materialism, theorien und praktiken dazu haben viele namen. vier wochen lang feiern wir den menschen als sündenbock, als pharmakos, der im- mer schon pharmakon, also gift und heilung zugleich war. dafür realisieren wir gemeinsam mit vier künstlerischen positionen eine elegie. in vier wochen kommen vier stro- phen der elegie je donnerstags zur aufführung. am dienstag ist tag der pharmakofictions: mit lecture-performances, ritual und gesprächen. wir beginnen mit einem opferfest, feiern rosh hashana und schließen mit einem ganz und gar nicht kirchlichen erntedankfest. mit pharmakos/n been- den wir diese serie an apparaten, in die wir sie einladen, gemeinsam mit uns visionen wirklich werden zu lassen. if you’re sick, you get yourself something: human help, institutional support or substances. pharmaceutics is a practice that deals with drugs, both curative and poiso- nous ones. if you’re tired of too much reality, you might trip on mushrooms, drink the ayahuasca elixir, or go to the theater. pharmakon is the ancient greek name for all of that: poisons, remedies and potions. pharmakos instead is the sacrifice, a scapegoat. at the exact same time theater was created, humans in southern europe were ritualistically sacrificed, either as a means of prevention or whenever something went wrong. this act kept the order of the community intact. now we’re witnes- sing the end of the age of man. cybernetics and robotics, post-colonialism, queer theory, new materialism; there are many names for these theories and practices. for four weeks, we will celebrate the human as a scapegoat, as pharmakos that has always been pharmakon: both a poison and a cure. we’ll compose an elegy with four artistic con- tributions and perform one verse every thursday. tuesday is the day of pharmakofictions with lecture performances, rituals and talks. we’ll open with a victim laid, celebrate rosh hashana and close with an anything but religious thanksgiving feast. pharmakos/n is the final installment to our series of apparatuses that invites you to help us let visions become reality.
